I didn't vote. Because the only one I would chose is an incomplete sentence. That being said, global overpopulation is something that all of us should be concerned about. The fact that children in Africa are starving is an indicator that this is a real problem. The land that they are on cannot sustain them. They simply can't grow enough food to feed everyone.
We (meaning those of use in the United States)on the other hand, can. We can grow enough food to feed ourselves and share with those counties that are in need. Why don't we do this you ask? Because it would upset the status quo, and the super rich and multinational corporations would not continue to be the super rich. Our Government happily goes along this path paying out farm subsidies each year. This is all done in order to maintain a stable economy.
Now if some people could get over themselves(Congress) and enact a law allowing farmers to grow as much food as they can. Setting aside a portion to be donated to charity, and giving the farmer a tax break for that portion. It would maintain the economy and set us up as the saviors of the downtrodden. Yes, I understand it wouldn't be as simple as this. But it would be a good place to start.
I tend to think that it is very wrong to generalise when talking about Africa. Some people in Africa are hungry because there are wars and disputes, others because the climate is unsuitable for farming and many other reasons. One of them is that the westernisation of societies have made cost of living very high and it's difficult for those people to have a suitable standard of living.
Africa is made up of many countries, each facing it's own distinct problem and we should never generalise when talking about Africa.
Yes I've noticed but the problems are more complex than that - the logistic, corruption, just to name these two. It's not simply about not being able to grow enough. Believe me I know what I'm talking about.
The poor in third world countries or undeveloped nations are not the ones exhausting the world's resources it's the developed nations that greedily use and waste our resources. If there was a way to provide all the food that we waste or let go bad to these people you would be surprised how far it would go . I'm an American and see us as MOSTLY entitled greedy and incredibly unappreciative of the resources that we have available.
Wich one would you vote and how would you complete the sentence?
It's a complex matter, but at least (for me) your heart is in the right place.
I'm glad I asked this because I was really begining to think it was common for people to think the other horrible stuff.
I found a question outraging and then noticed many people agreed?

I realize what you are saying. But I believe I addressed that with the statement "They simply can't grow enough food to feed everyone."

Your not getting it.
I agree with you.
Did I not say " Yes, I understand it wouldn't be as simple as this."

I hope the person who wrote that will grow up and realize it's pretty much how you say.
