I forget places when i get there

Sometimes when I go to a place that I've been to a THOUSAND times, I forget everything about it. I went to the park today and I had been there just a few weeks ago. It was dark out, but I couldn't remember anything about it... Even the huge field it had right in front of my face. It was scary. I'd been there so many times and so recently... Yet my brain couldn't process it. Time stopped and people's voices were echoing. Please help, I don't want to live in fear. This has happened about four times and I feel like I have dementia or something.

  • Ask your doctor, but to me it sounds like it could be a form of sensory processing disorder of some kind probably coming from ADHD or something similar. Have you ever been diagnosed with ADHD? I have ADHD and although I cant say I have experienced anything anywhere near this bad, I do sometimes find myself distracted by noises and other people's conversations and forget things (likely a mild version of what your talking about). What your experiencing sounds like what would be typical for someone suffering from severe problems with sensory integration/processing. Not trying to scare you with this, but as someone who knows a good bit about psychology, this could be the start of going crazy so you should definitely see a doctor about this

Hmm... I think perhaps you just don't have the kind of memory that holds that kind of information. Maybe your memory has strengths elsewhere. Don't worry about it unless you start to forget people's names all the time and constantly forget what you're doing. Don't panic, just live on.

    Go to a neurologist!

Make an appointment with a neurologist immediately. If you have already had several episodes, then something is clearly up. You should have an MRI asap.

Well, if you're younger than 45, I'd say something odd is up. However, it was dark and settings would appear strange and different. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if you forget places like your home or work, that's something you should probably talk to someone professional about.

Wow, that definietly sounds strange! I think maybe never go to places at night without someone with you because it does seems super scary.
Take care, alright? Maybe keep a list of things you know about the palce you are visiting in your pocket next time you are making a trip there! xx
