I am and probably will always be an American, at heart. No matter how broken she may be she is the place of my birth. In actuality, when asked where we are from, both my wife and I say "Our boat" as we are nearly stateless people in reality.
I think calling a piece of driftwood your wife is a bit of a stretch. Even if you put a wig and lipstick on it.
