I feel overweight but i'm too embarassed

At times, well most of the time, I feel slightly overweight and fat. Don't get me wrong, I'm not like really big or anything, I guess you could say I'm a fairly normal size with just quite large thighs and excess fat.
I've wanted to begin excersing but I'm too embarassed to go out and do it in case people I know see me. And I'm too embarassed to ask my parents to get me a treadmill. I'm too embarassed about feeling like this to even to talk to them about this.
Is it wrong that I feel overweight/fat but still do nothing about it?

Is It Normal?

  • Do it at home or take walks. No matter what shape I'm in I don't like being in a gym or working out with other people.

  • The wii fit idea was a good idea! I love that thing! But seriously losing weight is mostly diet. Exercise is totally great and very helpful too but I'm just saying don't rely on it. My friends was chubby and her idea was I can eat whatever I want but I will do a moderate workout almost everyday. It didn't work at all. To lose weight you need a healthy combination of diet and exercise. And when I see fat people at the gym I think good for them they are taking control. I have no idea if you are actually fat or are average and feel fat but whatever the case don't worry about anyone else. If you are really that concerned I would start by dieting and doing light exercise at home. Then once you slim down a little you should try the gym.

  • if u arent happy with ur appearance then i would recommend finding a way to work out and watching what u eat. and theres nothing wrong with people seeing u hitting the gym trust me. especially since u state ur a pretty normal size, i doubt anyone would judge u for wanting to tone up a bit and be healthy

  • I'm the same as you! Get a Wii Fit, tell your parents it will be fun for the whole family. Not only does it have games, but it also keeps track of your weight, and has great workouts! Then you won't have to worry about anyone you know see you! :)

  • Join a gym. No one is looking around. They're all worried that others are looking at them or in their own little world with iPods. I was just like that too.

  • I know how you feel . But once you're motivated and see improvement , you won't want to just sit there and do nothing about it .
