I feel mean if i don't let my animals kiss me

I know that their mouths aren't the cleanest but I really appreciate their kisses and affection so I let them give me kisses. I don't let them kiss me on the mouth. Just the cheeks or even up around my nose. I seem to be the only person in my family who feels mean for not letting them show affection so I wondered if anyone else feels this way? I think of my animals as my kids because they're the closest that I have to kids aside from being an uncle and visiting with my nieces and nephew. Maybe a good way to explain it would be to say that I feel like pushing away dog and cat kisses would be like pushing away my nieces and nephew when they hug me.

Is It Normal?

  • I kiss my Siamese cat all the time, but he's not much of a kisser himself. I used to have a Himalayan cat that would like my face like a dog.

  • It's sweet that you're accepting their love and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • I don't think it's normal. (Meaning, I don't think others would feel bad. You're a special person) I have often kissed my pets and allowed them to kiss me, and wish that my current cat would. (Although I'm probably hoping for miracles. She's a cat, after all)
