I feel like my best friends nurse?

she has raging autism and has lost both her feet. i am the one who helps her up stairs in her chair and i am the one who has to calm her when she gets annoyed, upset or angry and starts twitching, or if she can't do what she wants and starts shaking. people sometimes purposely upset her to make it harder for me. is it normal to feel like her nurse?

  • I wouldn't have the patience, not for a friend. That's very courageous. Hope you have a life beside that

  • How old are you two?

I'm guessing you really aren't supposed to be her nurse, but you are acting like one... what would she do if she didn't have you?

    • That's a great point.

I knew two women who were best friends - one had a severe handicap and a lot of physical needs. When they hung out, it was understood that her friend helped her out with these needs.

However, her friend couldn't be there 247... so the woman did have to have an official assistant.

Is there a reason your friend does not have assistance other than you?
