Seekelp hit the nail on the head. Expectations are different for women as well, depending on who you ask. Go to a college and most of the women there will probably tell you that being strong, independent and career driven is what makes a woman. Go to a conservative Christian church and they may tell you that running a household, having a family and supporting one's husband is what makes a woman.
Likewise, you go to same said school and most people will tell you that real men are strong and accept their weaknesses but also have mild temperaments yet are assertive etc etc they will describe the Vetruvian man of male personas whereas a blue collar community might say that a real man is a man who can head a household and provide for his family.
All depends on who you listen to so find some shitheads you agree with and be like the rest of us conformists already.
I feel like as a man, I'm still expected to do a lot.
