Here's the thing, guy. Everyone thinks that "society" tells them one thing, but the truth is that "society" is a complex amorphous mass spewing hundreds of contradictory statements. Don't feel like you have to prove yourself to others, you've got to succeed on your own terms. This doesn't mean you should be a lazy piece of shit- interact with people on an individual to individual basis, not in some weird collective assumption way.
