I feel horrible after playing specific games, but not others

This question is obviously directed to other people who play games...
I feel fine after playing open world games or games with positive social interaction, but terrible after playing high-stress games that are constantly forcing you to do something like battlefield or deathmatch games. I feel like I get sucked into those and five hours later feel like I just lost five hours of my precious life. This happens at a subconscious level so can someone explain it? (It's not about preference towards one game over another).

I don't feel any positive feelings while playing pvp. Mindless monotony. Gaming is supposed to be fun. Even if you win, it's too high stress to be any fun. If you're not having fun then you are indeed wasting your time.
In open world you're using your brain, exploring and discovering all at your own pace. Relaxing and fun.

Seems like you're using "it feels like a waste of time" to shield you from the truth of "playing competitively is stressful and not fun for me".

It's a needless mental gymnastic routine. If playing competitively is stressful and not fun, then that's reason enough to stop playing those games.

there are plenty of co-op games you can play with friends or through matchmaking. the gaming community would be a better place without fortnite, apex, cod, mind numbing crap imo.

i don't mind a bit of rainbow six and cs:go though.

    You arent playing any game.
Youre sitting on your ass in make believe land like a 5 year old.
A game is physical, hands on.
    usually outdoors.
    With actual people.

        In theory.
I agree. I enjoyed video games as a child too.
What I see today is to many people off in la la land.
        This results in:
        Obesity.
        Poor driving.
        Mass shootings.
        Voting against your best interest.
        Child neglect.
        Polution.
        National Debt.
        Animal extinction.
        Global warming.
        Unwanted births.
        A homeless issue.
        So, yea.
Its a big deal to me.
