I feel emotionally attached to jim carrey

Whenever I watch a movie with Jim carrey in it, i feel everything he feels, the physical and emotional pain, his happiness, his sadness. Whenever he gets hurt, I feel it too. I was wondering if this is normal? I have been watching movies whenever I get the chance, but so far it only happens with Jim Carrey. I plan to meet him someday to tell him about this. Can someone find out the science of this? I have been researching, but found nothing. Comment below if you find anything out.

Is It Normal?

  • The best insight I can offer is to read the "5 levels of attachment". Basically, the more you attach something to your identity, the more emotionally and personally invested you become. So when Jim Carrie is displaying emotion in a movie your brain identifies with it on a deep personal level and produces the same effect as though you were experiencing it yourself firsthand. That's my best guess. It's not normal to be that deeply attached to something, but lots of people are on the heavily attached end to other people/things/ideas - so you're at least normal in that respect. Just listen to people talk about sports, politics or religion for examples. The line between idea and personal identity gets really blurry really fast and invokes real emotions.

    • I don't think there's anything wrong with being fascinated or being madly in love with a celebrity, many people are and always have been, what about all the screaming fans at concerts or when cheering actors/actresses on the red carpet? Now being fascinated with someone in real life, that there is something wrong with, unless it's obviously a loving romantic relationship and both parties of the couple feel the same.

  • well yeah it is normal when they're a really good actor, but i suggest u dont meet up with him, for his own sake
i personally really like him too, i think he's the funniest because i connect with that kind of humour as well, probably why you feel so attached as well

  • Remember Liar liar? Jim Carrey (holding a blue pen trying to say it's red): "the pen is r, the pen is r.r..r.., the pen is r.., the pen is r..r..royal blue!"
Dumb and dumber, Jim Carrey to the girl he likes: "what are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me?"
And Carrey taping a dead parrot's head back on, and him falling off the jetway trying to too late return the briefcase to a plane that just left. Carrey later that day to Jeff Daneils: "I fell off the jetway again".
    Funny stuff!!

  • Maybe you see in him a father figure, a childhood stronghold, a brother, a friend.
    It’s normal to idolize things
