But how exactly DO you psychologically torture people? I am highly skilled at manipulating and controlling people by using their emotions/traumas to my advantage, for example. If you do something like that, it's not torture, merely manipulation. An example of psychological torture is if someone were restrained and forced to watch their child being beaten up/abused in front of them. As it would most likely traumatise and emotionally scar the parent as well.
My version of torture is just to watch them ellicit emotional distress from doing nothing "wrong" than saying a few words or jestures. I wouldn't go out of my way just to pursue entertainment so I wouldn't be able for your example, restrain them and let them observe someone they love be abused. Solely on the reason that I would get caught
