I enjoy 'mandolin rain' best on rainy nights

It's bliss for me when I'm tucked under the bed sheets, alone, with nothing lined up to get me out of bed on a cold rainy night while listening to Bruce Hornsby's 'Mandolin Rain'. Anyone out there who feels the same?

The Alice in chains song Rotten Apple is my rainy day song.

    • Maybe it's true that this song is your rainy day song, but I don't see me voluntarily listening to it ever again. Actually, it would ruin my rainy night entirely. Mention a song like "Your Decision" by Alice in Chains, and I'll know there and then that your taste in music is on point.

Lol “your decision“ is one from after Layne died. It’s good but it’s not even close to their 90’s output.

        • Well, I won't object. Music listening is a subjective activity. And what would be your comment on a song like "Pain" by The War On Drugs?

Not much other than generic rock, both vocally and instrumentally. It’s got that “made for radio” vibe to it. And no that’s not a good thing.

            • ""made for radio" vibe" Hehe.. I sooo love the song nevertheless.

do I LOVE that song. Most of Bruce Hornsby's music is very structured. Perfect for the INTJ mind. BTW, some of his best work never hit the charts. See Wikipedia,

    • I agree... the INTJ mind thingy. This song, "The Way It Is", Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia" and "Secret Garden", Don Henley's "End of the Innocence", Sting's "Fields of Gold" and "Drive" by The Cars, together make for an awesome mellow listening experience.

Your playlist is all my favorites. I've never met anyone with musical taste so similar to me.

Someday you should to go YouTube. Search for Bruce Hornsby Song A, Song C, Song E, Song F, Song G and Song H. They are all piano instrumentals and they are all quite technical. See what you think. If you want to step it up from there, "The Holly and the Ivy, George Winston".

        • Dude I think you're a good reference for piano based music. Personally, I liked Bruce Hornsby's "Song H" more. And that George Winston piece? Listening to it was pure winterly bliss. I felt elated, thanks.

I'm not familiar with that particular album but I am familiar with Bruce Hornsby. My go to CD in such a situation would be Dusk by The The! Of course I would want to add some herb, and my cat to the mix.

Oh, I love that song! The The is so underrated that it's borderline criminal.

    • The album from which "Mandolin Rain" comes from is titled "The Way It Is" and this album's titular song, is also another masterpiece.
