I dream that i can't hit full force?

I don't know if there's some reason behind this recurring dream or not. But I normally have it when I'm falling asleep. I'm fighting a guy, like on ufc or something, but when I get the chance to punch him everything's perfect until halfway through the swing. Everything slows down until my arm feels numb and stops, no matter how hard I'm trying to shove it towards his face.
It aggravates me so badly every time and I wake up when I realize that he's starting to move to hit me.
Has anyone had dreams if something similar? Or do you have ideas about why I keep having the dream?

    Yes. Your brain paralyzes your body to prevent you from acting out your dreams, so sometimes, when you try to move in your sleep and can't, the feeling of being unable to move works it's way into your dream.

    My two most common are driving, and my foot being numb and unable to move...then not being able to push down the breaks. I also have a lot of dreams where something is trying to bite me, like an animal or a zombie, and I can't move my arms or legs...so I have to try and scare it away by yelling...which often results in me waking myself up by making retarded dream noises. "Ughblablaraaaa" hahaha.

    If you like dream interpretation, those kind of dreams signify feelings of powerlessness (losing your physical strength) in terms of challenging life endeavors.

    Heheh, happens to me, too. Most of the time I have to opportunity to hit the guy more than once and each punch hardly phases him.
