I feel the exact same way you do. I despise them. I am happy for the couple but I have to make myself go. I think lavish weddings are a waste of money to. when as you said most marriages won't even last these days. I had a very small quick wedding and was pleased with just that instead of putting people on the spot.
I dread weddings & all events associated with weddings.
