  • Me too! And I'm aware that it's a healthy practice to drink hot water.

    • Apparently my father's maternal grandfather used to start off everyday with hot water with lemon. The neighbors would say, "Mr. Ashner, how do you stay so healthy, and spry", and Pappy Ashner would say, "I take a glass of hot lemon water everyday first thing in the morning". My dad thinks it's hilarious, because my great-grandfather was basically telling people that he started off everyday with a healthy dump.

Sorry, that was longer than it needed to be.

      • Your comment has at least inspired me to start off today with black tea with honey.

      • Did the hot water and lemon make him go?

I have heard it's healthy but I didn't know that was the reason

        • That's what I've heard. I usually have that Metamucil orange flavored fiber in a big glass of water in the morning.

          • Metamucil... I've only ever been given that stuff after I've given birth, and I never finish it. I can't stand the taste. It made me throw up once!

            • Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. I have IBS, and have to take antispasmodics for my spastic colon. It sucks, but taking fiber helps with things. If I take the fiber regularly, I have less abdominal pain. Otherwise I end up having a lot of pain, and cramping about 30 to 45 minutes after I make a deposit.

              • I've heard it's great stuff. My husband always finishes off what the hospital give to me because he says it does wonders for his digestive system. I just can't stomach it - I think it might be the texture rather than the taste? It's the gloopy, almost chewy sensation of it that makes me heave.
