believe it or not, Prom is more about spending time with your friends then taking a date or dancing, I spent more time just chatting then dancing. And when I did get up to dance, I danced with other girls more often then with my (male) date.
The stereotypical "prom" seen on tv almost no longer excises. People think of it as junior wedding with Big dresses and limos and the man of your dreams taking you upstairs and popping your cherry. It's not like that.
I suggest you go, but with a group of friends, and not just a designated "date"...
