I don't want to date anybody...am i normal?

So, I'm 19 and I'm a lesbian. I've never had a long-term relationship - just a couple of day/week long flings. Recently, a couple of people have asked me out but...I have come to the conclusion that I really don't want a relationship. When I think about having someone around 24/7 (I know I am thinking much too far ahead here) if I happened to marry, I'm horrified by it. I love my personal space too much and I don't think I would ever want anyone in it with me - ever. So, I've been denying dating anybody because I don't want to spend that much time with one person...does anybody else have this problem?:S

Is It Normal?

  • I think you're jumping a bit too far ahead. You can't really assume that most couples are together 24/7. I'm sure whoever you are going to be with next time will also need some personal space. Ultimately, it's your choice whether to date anyone, but I just thought it's a real waste if you're not going to be dating due to assumptions which may not even be true.

  • Not be but I agree that you are thinking too far ahead. Can't you date and set limits on the amount of time together that you are comfortable with.

I mean if you don't want to date anyone then fine. But not dating because you have jumped to the conclusion that it will fence you in to a 24/7 relationship is a bit extreme.
