I don't think it's bad if children know lgbtq+ couples exist

I never understood why many people, especially the very heavily right wing ones, think that it's wrong for children to see LGBTQ+ couples.
People, who think it's bad that children see homosexual couples, act like as if LGBTQ+ itself would be porn, when in reality, being LGBTQ+ is not the same thing as LGBTQ+ porn or the heavily sexualized LGBTQ+ pride events.

When LGBTQ+ couples are shown in children's cartoons, so many people get triggered and they always yell things like "They're sexualizing our children!!!", "Illuminati is doing this all", "The children's entertainment industry is run by pedophiles", and other crap.
And sometimes, there are still some parents who like cover the eyes of the children when there's some LGBTQ+ couple around.

I am no leftist nor some "woke" LGBTQ+ rights activist, but honestly, I must say that too many people make drama for no good reason. I also don't think that children seeing LGBTQ+ couples would turn them less straight or less cisgender.

As long as the LGBTQ+ couple isn't doing anything sexual in public, why is LGBTQ+ treated as if it were porn itself? I think LGBTQ+ is just LGBTQ+ and not automatically a sexual thing and also not always about sex only.

And yes, I know that LGBTQ+ pride events often tend to be very sexualized too, but again, LGBTQ+ is not sexual itself nor something that's only about sex.

No there's nothing wrong with that and won't do anything. Gay people aren't affected by constantly having straight couples shoved in their faces, other than finding it to be annoying to get so little representation compared to straight couples.
It's probably better a child gets subjected to seeing both straight and gay couples, this way they'll know that there's nothing wrong with them if when they start to experience attraction they do it to the same gender instead of the opposite. If they can feel that their attraction is normal then, they're probably much less likely to end up with problems like depression due to shame, not feeling normal and having to hide part of whom they are all the time.

its normal, i think lgbtq representation is good. See, the problem is some shows make being lgbtq their only personality trait. You wouldnt make a straight person the main character because they are straight, would you?

if your asking if its normal to like lgbt, yes.
If your asking if its normal to like lgbt who know what sex is, its normal.

They should be aware that they exsist. We aren't russia. Another thing entirely to discuss anal sex in sex ed. With the internet they'll figure it out if they want to.

I dont exactly come from a forward family and seeing interracial and gay couples growing up id say was good for me. Granted I didn't see it much being a northerner but it did happen.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Its kind of a stretch when you start including gay characters on like sesame street when they were trying to make bert and ernie gay. They can't be gay because sexuality doesn't exist for muppets on sesame street. Its a fictional world where sex doesnt exist.

    • Well, like I said in the main post, LGBTQ+ is not about sex only. There are many LGBTQ+ topics that only focus on romance, and sexual feelings aren't even required for romantic relationships. There are asexual couples, for example.

Everyone is asexual in the fictional world of childrens TV shows.

I mean we're getting way too specific for romance in childrens shows. Nobody dates each other on Sesame Street, they just sit around unemployed and talk about letters and numbers all day.

I don't think seeing gay people will turn kids gay, only very very stupid people believe that. I just think its dumb when people try to include the complexity of adult relationships in children's shows.

What? I'm pretty sure bert and ernie were fingering eachother's buttholes. Didn't they take baths together? & draw eachother pictures?

Yeah but they have no genitalia so muppets are basically gender neutral, they also have no assholes. Kermit and piggy were together but kermit very visibly doesn't have a penis.
