I don't think disabled people should be equal

Hypothetically speaking, a year from now you're in an accident which leaves you disabled and unable to work, would you agree to be taken off and killed? Would your family?

You are quite the example of narrow-mindedness.
If you or someone close to you will ever have a serious accident, this would probably open your eyes. But that's nothing you'd wish for.

These people deserve a go at life, they have the same rights as us able beings to try to make themselves something on this earth. Yeah they might need a hand here and there but it doesn't give us the justification to purge these people.

There is such a thing as individual freedoms, and the reason we have them is so that our rights are not dependent on our ability to bend to the will of society.

Lots of disabled people can contribute things to society even if its not always the same things most people contribute. Some of the craziest people are the smartest as well and lots of people with various mental and physical disabilities have done great things.

Personally I think the term "disability" is not a good term because it implies someone cannot do anything. Just because someone has different abilities doesn't mean they cannot do anything.

I think that sometimes they get too much attention and in real it's the average citizen that has the less chances. But I don't think they should be killed or anything like that, this is cruel.

I honestly can't even believe what I just read. Most of those people with mental "retardation" give a lot to this world. They are the kindest most non-judgmental people on the planet and they certainly promote positivity in the world.

I have no problem with the idea of eugenics - there are 7 billion of us on this planet, and we aren't showing any signs of slowing down. Add to that the fact that modern medicine has basically cancelled natural selection, and you have a planet that's doomed to overflow with increasingly worthless genes.

That being said, I don't believe that we should be cruel to those with inferior genes - all people have the right to be safe and happy. I just don't think reproduction should be a universal right.

Alright. People are going to think I am a freaking asshole, but I kind of agree with you. They are humans, yes, but they are physically and mentally damaged to the point of being virtually functionless. Now I am only talking to people with debilitating disabilities, where it is practically a blank soul inside a functionless human body. I don't see the point in allowing people who need 24/7 physical care, and who have no mental capacity to do ANYTHING to live. It seems like a waste of resources, and like we would be putting them out of their misery if they were, ya know, gone.

So yeah. I am only referring to people with terrible, awful disabilities, both mental and physical.

If they're so disabled they can't live independently then odds are they AREN'T having kids and spreading their genes.

And as for them getting free room and board, don't their lives suck enough for them do deserve it?

And no, they aren't contributing to society...but how much are YOU contributing? Everyone on this website could get struck by lightning and die, and the world would keep on spinning. If we killed off everyone who wasn't needed that would be a huge portion of the ordinary population.

I don't think they should all be killed, mabye just the really useless ones, and all the mentally disabled people should be thrown in asylums, and I don't think it's fair that they get more privileges then the average person, it's bullshit.

I wholly disagree 100%. I do support people who actually want euthanasia, and that's about it. If they're suffering that bad and have to deal with a lot of unbearable bodily pain everyday, then let them die with dignity.

I think it's fair to say that we can't treat disabled people exactly the same as non-disabled people (I wouldn't want a firefighter who is confined to a wheelchair), but that doesn't mean they should get murdered.

I agree with the guy above me and with you. Assuming you mean mentally disabled by genetic nature... I work at a place where mentally disabled people work as well. Point is, most of them are incapable of reproduction, so there is no need of killing them. That would get us even deeper into a crisis, because they often contribute to our society as well.
