I don't talk about my emotions

I don't talk about my emotions and my mental health because I feel like I'm burdening others.

For example: the past 4 days I've been extremely busy to the point of skipping meals. Well my parents wanted to talk to me last night about something my dad requested me to do two weeks ago. I really wanted to tell him off, but I didn't want to start conflict. I just prefer to shut the fuck up and get it over with. However yet, my mental health is deteriorating because of the lack of food and sleep. Not to mention, I've felt flu like symptoms due to the stress I'm going through

I really wanted to tell them both about my mental health, but I'd be burdening them with my own negative drama; something they avoid. I've told my fiance about my mental health and now he's super worried about me. "Get a therapist" you all say. Well I can't cause they would prescribe me a medication. I'm more of a holistic believer than just taking medications.

I know that the real world won't let me take breaks whenever I feel like it.... If I did, I would come off as a slacker and I can't have that. On the other hand, my mental health needs a day to unwind. I don't know what to do anymore.

  • If you want a holistic approach, learn about Abraham Maslow, Carl Jung, Frederick Nietzsche, Alan Watts

The two biggest thing that could help you is Maslow's idea of self actualization and his hierarchy of needs

Combine that with the life's work of the other people up there and study some more great minds of psychology

talk to a therapist tell them you arent gonna do meds your the one hiring them other then that tell youre parents, i understand when ive been depressed i didnt want to tell anyone both not to hurt them and that i dont trust people, but if you care about them that much they probably care more about you (parents tend to care more then you think ) and do some exercise and find a good diet that tends to improve mental health and make sure you have time dont overburden yourself dont take on too much work or do work to avoid the problem that only delays a problem

You just did talk about your emotions! :) This is a very good start!!!
I went through it when I used to idolise my distant dad but after facing anxiety I have no choice but to open up for my health. Sometimes it is difficult. But YOUR PROBLEMS ARE VALID. Whatever they are!! Trust yourself!

You dont have to take meds! Speak to a counsellor not a doctor straight away

You sound very negative right now my friend there's a way out if you choose to try it :)

it's normal not to want to talk about your problems with family members or friends, but your lifestyle sounds pretty unhealthy

like others have said, talk therapy would be advisable

or at the very least please try to eat bits of food on a consistent schedule

  • Therapists don't prescribe medications, psychiatrists do. Go for talk therapy if you can afford it and don't want to use meds.

You don't have to take any meds. You can just talk to a professional or a pastor or someone like that. I think you should just slow down a little. Eat some healthy food and focus on getting at least 8 hours of sleep if you can. Take care of yourself and your mental state will improve.

    You’re a badass.
Instead of telling people “I feel like jerking the wheel”, I’ll just say I haven’t been feeling well. It gets people off your back without them over doing the concern part.

But you need to eat dude. That’s not cool.

You are making yourself worse by doing that.
