They are nothing but moving obstacles to me. If I saw one die it'd mean nothing to me, but people screaming and crying would annoy me.

I doubt he wants anything but attention, which excites him and immediately breaks his supposed world-view. if people are nothing but obstacles, you would want to convey nothing to them, and you wouldn't care for them in any way. you wouldn't be using the internet at that point, at least not in this way, and would just go dissappear somewhere.
