A lot of people ( myself at times admittedly ) have certain opinions that maybe aren't the best informed, maybe not researched all that well or even biased, they may have an experience involving something to do with that opinion which puts it into context
Also we change, no one, not one single person will exit this world as the exact same person they were when they were a kid, life happens to us, we experience new things all the time which can open our eyes, it can be a change in morals or taste
I despised hip hop and jazz as a teenager, I thought hip hop was a waste of time, talentless borderline rapist chavs talking over shit instrumentals and I thought jazz was pseudo sophisticated bullshit, now I'm a massive hip hop fan and I listen to quite a few jazz artists, hell in was forced to listen to pink Floyd as a kid and hated it, one of my favourite bands now, it doesn't mean I was lying before, I genuinely thought these things, I've just changed since then.
I don't see any difference between lying and changing your mind.
