I don't necessarily think of atheists as smarter people

I really don't understand the point of this post.
Of course it's normal to think that not all atheists are smart.

I don't think anyone really believes that do they?

A lot of incredibly intelligent people are also a bit eccentric or "crazy" & tend to enjoy their own company above that of others.
This doesn't mean that all loners & mentally unstable people are geniuses.

I'm sure some religious people are extremely smart &/or well educated & some atheists are total dipshits.

If there was a survey or study done I doubt the average intelligence of the atheist community would be dramatically higher than that of any religious group.

Beliefs & intelligence are not related in any way in my opinion.

One thing I will say is I suppose it may make sense that atheists are more likely to be open-minded people (obviously not blinded by beliefs) who question things a lot & improve their knowledge while looking for answers?

By the way I am not at all religious so this isn't me getting my back up due to feeling attacked, simply my unbiased opinion...
