Of course it's normal. Not all religious people are crazy, not all politicians are a-holes, etc. You're not stereotyping which is the smart way to approach things.
If statistics showed the most intelligent people like to fly Kites. There would be those who were ranked the most intelligent flying kites, those who are not intelligent and fly kites and those who are wanting to appear more intelligent so they start to fly kites. =P
Does that make people who sail boats statistically super smart? lol Basically, it seems like flying a sail is something like flying a really big kite, playing off the wind.
