I don't like naming pets

I feel weird giving pets names. Most of my pets I just call them by the "cute" version of what animal they are- i.e. my rabbit I call bunny or 'the rabbit', my moms dog although she has a name, I've always called her puppy or doggy or just dog when I'm mad. I want to get a couple parakeets soon, and I was gonna get just one and name it birdie, but I think they are better off with a friend so idk what I'll name them.. is it normal I don't like giving actual names to pets?

Is It Normal?

  • I enjoy giving animals proper Christian names.
    :-P

I think if an animal can learn and respond to his or her name then it's worthy of a name. I don't name fish of course, but I don't mind people who do so.

  • They don't really respond to their names half of the time.
Especially cats, I've had one for 8 years and it never learned that its name is "Alex" and that it should come when I call him

  • Why does it feel weird? I name my pets names I love that are too strange to name my future kid, like yacapo, murtagh, etc to get it out of my system
