I am a Chinese and I can understand what you mean. Yeah, it is necessary for us to reflect ourselves, but in my opinion, poverty, dictatorship are the bigger problems confronting us Chinese, instead of how to be courtesy. Based on what I have learnt from Weastern history and novels, violence, rudeness, and crimes happened as frequently as in current China. Hence, I do not think these bad things you guys discussed about are unique for Chinese people, instead, they are together with porvety, low productivity and dictatorship.
