I don't have sympathy for most poor people

Some people have disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to make much money. Some people would rather focus more on family than their careers, and there are some people who just don't care much about having money. These reasons are understandable. Otherwise, if you are 40 years old and have never made 50k in a year in your whole life, you are a fucking loser.

Edit: this is such an obvious troll post. Why are you idiots responding to me?

Internet slang, a troll (/troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion,[3] whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain

        • I've never taken a handout in my life. And I didn't come from money either. At 18 I had nothing and not even electricity in my house. I joined the army and got myself out of that shit without asking anyone for shit. If I can do that anyone else can too. No excuses.

Living in army barracks isn't exactly the same as having to find your own home, paying the rent/bills every month etc. The army give you food, shelter, fuel money and other non taxable allowances if you live off site. If you hadn't been accepted into the army for whatever reason, things could have been very different for you.

            • Are you really trying to downgrade my time in the service as though it were just a walk in the park? Miss, you simply have no idea what you are talking about. The little 700$ per month I made for typical 14 hour days was not some little gimme. Soldiers work their asses off for that little bit and no one has a right to take that away from them. You apparently never served.

After osut, I didn't live in the barracks as I was married. The army does not give you nontaxable allowances to live off post. What they do is take money away from your check if you live in the barracks. And there is no fuel money. That's just not true.

And if I hadn't been accepted into the army, I would have done civil service or something else.

If you actually think that I was given out something from the army for free, you are very wrong. Do a road march with 50 lbs on your back for 15 miles in the Texas heat and tell me that I had it easy.

I didn't say handout, I said help. The fact that you were allowed in the army with that attitude, means someone seriously helped you along the way.

Where did you get a house at 18?

I thought the trolling trend around here was people asking if they were gay if they were a man and liked to suck cocks?

Is this forum finally getting away from that?

About how much someone makes -
No I do not make 50K a year. I do know some people who get more than that and they don't really seem to be doing much better than me nor anyone else. What is wrong with that picture?

I've always thought it better to judge people by how much they've enjoyed their work rather than how much they make. A scientific researcher might make less than $50k but you'd probably struggle to find someone who found their work more rewarding. Also a party princess make way less than that, but might love her job because she's infertile and wants to be around children to share her maternal gifts. Or what about all the people who volunteer?

I agree that how well someone has spent their time is very telling, but I don't think that money is the best indicator of that.

Honestly some people are poor because they have no drive to better their situation. They don't want to work, they rather suck on the system. Their parents and grandparents probably did and that's what they know as "a living". About 8-10 years ago there was a story in the Sunday paper, this woman was pretty much given an apartment to live in, nice remodeled, wood floors, a DAMN flatscreen, and well she had to go to work to "earn" it. She bitched the TV wasn't big enough, she complained that she "didn't know-how anyone can go to work 5-6 days a week." She had " tried" it for a few weeks and hated it. I'm sure all she knew was to suck off the system. That's the kind of people I got no respect or use for. I worked most my adult and teen years, now being legally blind no one wants to hire me, so yea I'm on disability now. I also did 7 years serving my country in the Navy. So I feel I earned my way.

Yoy have to have the mindset of knowing this website is a cespool for trolls. You can give genuine advice or ask real questions, but always know that someone somewhere will try to shoot it down. Just the way this place is when it’s poorly managed.

          • Tbh, I just want people to stop responding to them and then maybe the trolls will go away. They are just looking for reactions and that's what they always get.

When I first came here, I had a lot of fun and interesting conversations with people on here. Now it's just a Mecca for bored trolls to clutter with their garbage. It's getting to the point where I think,I'm might just delete my account and go elsewhere when I'm bored or alone. The miscreants are winning.

For some reason unbeknownst to me, the more trollish the post, the more people respond. I don't get it. Surely people must see through the bs and know that it's best not to respond. *Facepalm*

I get what you mean. I haven't been here for that long but my interest was piqued when I first found this site because of those interesting conversations that you mentioned. I thought it would be uncensored honest discussions about hot topics like politics, feminism, masturbation, religion, and all those weird secret thoughts that we have but are too afraid to admit to people who know us. It would be fascinating to know what people really think about those issues when they are anonymous and free from identity politics.

It is a bit disappointing to have those intentions and then scroll through the top posts of the day and find it's mostly kids asking if it's normal to want to eat shit or suck daddy dick or fuck their dog or whatever else their tiny minds can think of.

Nah, don't really agree. My ambition to make money is driven by my need for money. If I desperately needed money or the validation it brings from others I'd generate great butt-sweat to make lots of moneys. However, I really don't give a shit about validation from others and I don't really need that much money, so........ meh.......

I don't think about them at all. I understand sympathy for them, but I don't partake in that.

Those who condescend to the poor, in your case, out of egotistical malice, are very primitive, pack-mentality, tribalist subhumans. It's the adult equivalent of breaking windows or other low-class (and I don't mean financially) behavior. Anyone with a higher degree of intelligence would not pay any mind to them unless it is a specific interest of theirs.

I feel like what you've basically said is "It's okay to not make a lot of money in your life, except also that isn't okay".

Quite contradictory to me, unless I'm missing something.

You give some valid reason as to why people may not earn as much as others, however there is no expectation to be earning a certain amount by a certain age. Putting that expectation on people can be dangerous.

    • Dangerous? How so?

Most of the poor people I've come in to contact with in my life weren't poor for a good reason. They struck me as lazy and undriven. Some were in circumstances beyond their control, but most just didn't want to strive for anything better. Therefore they deserved their poverty.

For me, it comes down to creating unrealistic expectations of where they "should" be in their life. There is no set target for life, there is no "I SHOULD have a nice salary when I'm 35", or "I MUST have a nice car when I'm 30". This expectation can make people feel very pressured, which can bring about anxiety, depression, other mental health issues. If everyone expected me to be earning £50k a year when I'm 40 I'd be driven insane.

I fit into your category of being able-bodied enough to work full time, which I do (though I'm younger than 40), and I have absolutely no expectation of myself to be at £50k when I am. If it happens, fantastic; if it doesn't, then oh well doesn't matter. Does that make me a loser?

Money isn't a measure of true wealth. The only reason for money is happiness and if you are already happy then money isn't required.

Why would you think "poor" want sympathy.

    • I don't think they all want sympathy, but in my experience most do.

I'm not talking about people who don't put money high on their life's agenda, which is very few of us, but people who want or need more if it and don't have the drive to go get it. Ie. lazy pieces of shit.

Dude. I don't have a problem with your trollmanship because you have asked a reasonable question. I would say that lazy pieces of shit are notably good at pissing their money away on poor purchases. Lower income people living in a financially efficient way can have a living standard of someone with twice their income.
