I don't have a skincare routine

When I say I don't have a skincare routine, I mean anything other than washing off in the shower. Even then, I usually just use a bar of soap (some natural type that is very mild) whenever I've sweated or gotten dirty and just warm water the rest of the time. I have sensitive skin that seems to go from oily to dry very easily, and warm water seems to be the perfect balance for it unless I'm excessively sweaty or dirty. Most soaps dry my skin out and excessive use of them on my face seems to cause more issues than it solves. I don't wear makeup either, so don't have to use anything to remove it.

I also don't moisturize or exfoliate or anything like that. I don't even know the first thing about it. Since my skin is naturally on the oily side, would it be necessary?

I'm also a woman in my mid-late 20's.

Is it normal that I have no skincare routine outside of the bare basics, and is it necessary? I don't have any skin issues and get compliments on my complexion, and the last thing I was told about my skin was that it is very healthy, but it seems that most people have more of a routine when it comes to skincare regardless of the condition of their skin, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something I should be doing.

    Do you wear sunscreen?

Everyone should wear sunscreen, even in cold, cloudy climates. It is the best thing you can do to stay looking young and healthy. This also means you need some sort of cleanser to remove it at night. If you have really senstiive skin then I recommend using a soapfree cleanser, like cereve or QV.

Have a look at the doctorly channel on YouTube. They are dermatologists who explain all this stuff really well.

Regular soap and water is fine, but I highly suggest wearing sunscreen daily, you’ll prevent wrinkles that way too
Skin is the largest organ and the first line of defense, you want to keep it as healthy as you can

I started oil cleansing with DHC oil cleanser after I turned 50, and I LOVE that stuff!

Does adding oil to your face not cause breakouts?

Well, I'm using an oil cleaner, not just whatever random oil I find around the house.

Here's a link to the oil cleanser I use:

I like it a lot. I also like Philosophy's Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser.

I’d recommend non-greasy sunscreen (Boots Soltan is the one I use) and moisturiser round your eyes, on your lower face and neck even though your skin gets oily, they will make you age slower.

My skin prefers to be left alone too and I also found special face washes made no difference or were detrimental. I suspect a lot of it is placebo.

I'm a guy and I honestly do not care if my partner does it or not. If you do it for yourself than it's as extensive as you want it to be.

yes, it is normal, and a lot of people do that. But it shouldn't be. You should have an appointment with a dermatologist to check with her what are the best face procedures for your specific skin.
