I don't get emotional during films.

Films never seem to affect me. When those around me are brought to sad or happy tears during a film, I simply sit there. For example, I was watching a romantic movie with my roommates a few weeks ago. After the film ended, they were saying "AWWWW that was so sweet..." and were in tears. I just sat there, completely unaffected, although I did enjoy the movie. This being said, I still love watching movies, and get very involved in them from an intellectual standpoint. Some people believe this is an insensitive quality. I know a few others who share this quality with me, but they are all male; I am female. Is it normal that a young woman like me feels this way?

It is normal for a person of higher intelligence and a great objectivisation drive. Basically you are able to process the story to fast and dissect it too well to care. Because it isn't real, its just a movie why should you care about it at all. I laugh during horror films and tradegies. You are more emotionally mature than your peers. Savour it, i wish more of my female friends understood that like you.

Do you laugh at comedies? Do you get angry at historical dramas? These are emotions too.

I cry during some movies, but a movie that sends tears to my husbands eyes, are not the same ones that make me cry.

hmm i have never heard of a woman not crying during a sad movie. they are usually the more emotional of the sexes. although it could be an insensitive quality i think that you just show your emotions differently than other people or have a higher tolerance to emotional situations.

you don't feel anything because you think outside the box too much and predict what will happen!

When you watch a movie, a movie isn't just about special effects, it's about telling a good story to make you feel immersed! Some people get so immersed with the characters, that what ever happened to them they turn it into controversy.

When you watch a movie, you need to focus on it, not talking, using the phone, or getting distracted, all that will put you off.

Maybe you are just insensitive and think movies are bollocks and a waste of time.
