I don't do stuff other girls do

Every day I see the girls in my class wearing shorts or short-sleeved t-shirts, and they always have neat or curly hair. I don't ever wear shorts and prefer long pants; my t-shirts are always baggy, and my hair is always in a ponytail. I don't text a lot and I hardly use Facebook or Twitter. I don't have an iPod and don't know as many pop songs as the other girls. I love to read and play games. Personally I think wearing shorts and small t-shirts are gross.

Welcome to the dark side. Have a cookie, listen to some metal, read some yaoi...

Don't try to be something you're not. If you don't feel girly, don't force it. It's an unfortunate stereotype that suggests that if girls don't flaunt their bodies or get into mainstream style or media, that they are self-hating old maids. Nonsense. Enjoy your life, however you do it. <3

Totally normal. I think girls that wear tiny shirts and shorts are trying too hard and could be sluts. I wear shorts but not ones up my butt.

    Everyone's different, it isn't a problem.

  • That just means you arent a slut... So you should be proud. I hate girls that wear short shorts or any other type of clothing that reveals to much skin. it is bad for concentration and it tempts you to look...

I was the same. Did martial arts and went hunting and fishing with my dad. All my female friends were always really girly but it didn't male me love them less or them love me less. I always loved trance music, did defensive drivig courses and to this day drive a v8. Who cares what others think; be yorself. Oneday u will find someone who loves u just the way u are! My bf loves me for me: tomboy (although I do look after my maintenance and girly things), but loves I we can talk v8s or watch an action movie or even do a random girly thing like get smashed on a good bottle of wine. Don't stress too much, just be yourslf.

I always thought I was different, too. I wear my hair the way it is, I'm into classical/jazz music rather than pop and stuff. I am definitely not into texting, too. I have an i-pod but I don't have any pop, it's more like those blues songs they sang in the 1990's. I'm pretty much related to you.

i am kind of the same way, i am tired of seeing girls so scantily-clad. I prefer a nice-fitting pair of jeans and a modest shirt. Most of the time you will find me in sweatpants and a t-shirt. I still do my hair and makeup, though my hair is normally just straightened and i only apply mascara. I'm a tomboy. I don't like to show my body off for the world, that is only for my boyfriend. You're normal girl!!!

I'm alike and different in ways. I don't like shorts and I prefer pants that aren't too tight, but I like to wear whatever shirts I like and think I look best in. I normally don't really bother to do anything with my hair, but sometimes I have the time and get bored with what I normally have. I like games and reading, and I don't know or even like pop music. I don't really go on Facebook, and only made one after I graduated to keep in touch with people, which was really to no avail. I only check it to see if my best friend wrote any plans she wanted to make with me.

You're a tomboy. Once you go to college you'll meet other people like you. I'm the same way and I thought I would be alone forever. But when I got here I met a couple other girls like me. Most of them were even 80's girls, so it's not new. High school is just a small world where everyone wants to fit in and is afraid of being themselves. Some are probably even like you, but too afraid to show it.

While I was in high school, I did my own thing and others started to follow. Some even thanked me for taking the first step.

And don't worry about the boy thing. I know a couple boys that won't go out with a girl unless they're tomboys. And statistics show that nearly 85%% of guys prefer a girl without make up, and almost 90%% male high school graduates prefer a casual girl to a high maintenance one.
