It's somewhat unfortunate, given the time put into making and maintaining it. Things of the past often have sentimental value to people, after all, the past is gone.
However, the loss of the past isn't something I really consider tragic (except for important events in history that we need to learn from).
People in the past were just more shitty humans born on a different dot of the timeline. The loss of them and the things of sentiment that they built isn't anymore a tragedy than the loss of things or people now, in a way.
This is just the loss of something cool, but not necessarily something important.
