  • I think it only really applies between immediate family members. I love my children unconditionally because they are my children and I gave birth to them. I also love my husband very much but it is not unconditional. If he was cheating on me or started beating me up I would probably stop wanting to be with him and in time would probably stop loving him. But I will never stop loving my children whatever happens.

    • Sure but if they grew up to be violent and began abusing you I'd doubt you'd feel the same. Or maybe you would I don't know, I don't have kids.

      • You may be right I don’t know either. My kids certainly brought their dramas into our lives as teenagers. In different ways they brought their own challenges but despite the problems and heart ache they brought I never stopped loving them. Fortunately they grew out of their difficulties and are now well balanced adults with jobs. If they had been beating me up I don’t know if I may have felt differently because it never happened. I like to think nothing would ever stop me loving my kids but I guess we all have our limitations.
