That's why I cant be Christian dispite sharing 95% of the opinions. I lack faith, I've tried but I cannot manifest it for the life of me.
It's against my internal logic to put faith into something with absolute certainty. I dont wanna be heretical if I choose wrong. So I'm just trying to be the best I can be.
What do you mean when you say, "I dont wanna be heretical if I choose wrong"? I can't think of a way to make that sentence make sense with the context.
Most religions dont like you worshipping other gods. I dont wanna choose arong and since theres no empirical way to choose correctly from a place of no faith. Choosing wrong is a concern. Rather not be sent to hell for worshiping the wrong god.
Well, if it makes you more inclined towards faith, many interpretations of many religions (including Christianity) state that not worshipping the correct god also leads you to Hell (or the other religion's version of Hell).
It doesnt actually. In fact it makes the choice of religion harder. Since I dont wanna be a blasphemer its morally simpler just to be agnostic and be a good person. Being a good person should be enough to go to heaven.
there are 10 000 religions...is there any right one? is there any right god? what did people 3billion years ago believe in? who knows in what a million years from now humans believe in?
there is a lot of questions that cannot be answered and what about the fate of hell and heaven how could this be decided...
And that's why I hedge my bets. Because any omniscient being that creates subjects can recognize the basic mathamatical logic of not choosing if it's in my favor to not pick a god and just live my life as generally good as possible. With all the religions out there what is the actual chances of me picking correctly? 0.0001% now if I just insert some universal religious virtues like the golden rule and turn the other cheek. I can ramp up my chances of picking correctly dramatically.
Members of each religion are already capable of looking at the thousands of other religions and calling them the obvious bullshit they are. Atheists just take it one religion further.
You're trapped by fear but it's like being afraid there's a monster in your closet. That religion is BS is actually even more obvious than that there's not a monster in your closet. Stop living your life fearing a monster in your closet "just in case" and you'll feel a lot better.
i don't believe in religions

Naw hedging my bets like this makes me feel great. Gives me a minor assurance that at least blasphemer isnt added to my sin list.
Atheists don't add another religion; the other religions also condemn atheism.
