I don’t have a clitoris?

  • I was intrigued (and appalled) by the possibility that a woman could be born without a clitoris, so did some Googling.

According to Wikipedia, about one male in 5-6 million is born without a penis due to fetal developmental problems. Since the penis and clitoris both come from the same tissue in the fetus, I assume it is possible - but very rare - for a woman to be born without a clitoris.

Another possibility is a problem that can be addressed with surgery. I stole this from the MedHelp website:

"It could be phimosis or a buried clitoris or clitoral adhesions. If your foreskin/prepuce/clitoral hood is too long or adhered to your clitoris you can be circumcised the way a male is and your clitoris will be exposed. Go to a gynocologist and don't worry this is pretty common with about 25% of sexually mature women having phimosis."

That figure surprises me, since I've never knowingly encountered a woman with this problem. Even though my experience isn't vast, if a quarter of women have the problem, that makes it pretty common.

Another woman posting on that thread said that she had huge problems locating her clitoris until she did some exploring with a Mini-Mite vibrator. The active end of these vibrators is very small, so they can be used with pinpoint accuracy.
