I dislike optimism sometimes

Sometimes I really dislike people who say that everything will be fine, when obviously it won't. Makes me want to hurt something really bad and prove to them that it will never be the way we want it. I'm, not a pessimist, but I do admit that life's hard.

I can hate optimism at times. but I'm usually pessimistic about things because to me it's more realistic. then if it gets good, I get surprised.

When i'm optimistic, i tend to be lazy, but when i'm pessimistic i work harder to achieve my goal. Idk if this even helps.. -_-

It's oh so normal. My mother is an optimist...and you bet I will cringe everytime she spins one of her 'fairy tales' in the most UNFIXABLE situations ever! I agree with you 100%

  • I think it's unrealistic to hope for the best outcome. Realizing that you're not good enough to try out for a certain team will save you time and effort. If you come out of a test thinking you did bad, positive thinking will only set you up for disappointment when you get your test score back. I just fucking hate when people say "you're being negative" because theres a difference between venting and complaining.

I also find it annoying when people say "everything will be ok" without offering suggestions for actual actionable steps to take towards everything being ok. Sometimes I ask what makes them think everything will be ok, because hey you never know they might have a useful suggestion, but then they come out with some fairy-tale fiction which at some point they too realize sounds really stupid and they stop talking.

it's true, life can be hard. it's those good moments we all look forward to.

i think that when someone's optimism bothers you, it's because at that moment you are feeling down and who wants to hear it then, right?

one thing for sure, situations always resolve themselves, one way or the other, but not necessarily the way we want it.

optimism is a tool people use to get through difficult situations. don't hurt anything bad just to prove a point, because they have their opinions and doing that won't prove you are right.
