Yeah, you probably would have ruined your life for the most part. My mother lived with it for 30 yrs until he finally had to give up drinking because it ruined his health. He just died a few months ago and my mother purged a lot of stuff to me, like how miserable she was all those years, but stayed with him for us kids. That made me kind of mad because we were miserable too and would probably have been better off if they'd have split up.

Get to AA ASAP. My stepfather was an alcoholic and made all our lives miserable doing that stuff.

My second ex husband was most likely an alcoholic, I divorced him after less than three months.
