I saw a movie called Homeward Bound where a dog gets lost and finds his way home and it was really emotional, he makes friends with a cat

Sounds lame. I don’t plan to see it.

    • It's not lame because the story takes some super simple ideas and does them spectacularly well.

Why does it sound lame to you?

Movies can be very emotionally manipulative, and it sounds like this one pushed your particular buttons. Nothing wrong with that, since having a good weep can be emotionally cathartic.

People can be funny about animals.

I recently watched the disturbing Netflix documentary about Luka Magnotta, a Canadian psychopath who posted online videos of him torturing and killing cats before he moved on to posting a video of him drugging and murdering a man by repeatedly stabbing him and then followed this up by killing a puppy on-screen with the man's body in the background.

The Canadian homicide detective interviewed for the film was able to discuss the murder of the man quite calmly. She even maintained her professional composure when she talked about how Magnotta had chopped up the man's body and mailed various bits of it to Canadian politicians. But when she mentioned the bit of the video where the puppy was killed, she broke down in tears.

I've never heard of this movie until now, but if it touches your heart deeply then I think it would be normal to be moved to tears.

    • The movie starts with the stray puppy's life in an empty lot with some other stray animals. It is only a few weeks of her early life but it makes it seem like ages from the puppy's perspective. In one scene somebody---maybe animal control---takes away the "mother dog", and puppy--who narrates the whole movie from her point of view says "....and I never saw mother dog again.".
I creates a point of view that is amazing.
