I cried when i ran over a squirrel

Not only did I hit a squirrel, but I completely flattened it. I was driving to work when a squirrel jumped out in front of me and I had no time to react, I ran it over. I cried the whole way to work. I tried to compose myself but I still had tears in my eyes. When I got to work my boss asked what was wrong so I told her, and she said I'm too sensitive.

Sometimes I wonder if animals dare each other, like "dude, I'll bet you can't run out in front of this car, and back". They always wait until you are right there to run out in front of you. It always makes me sad.

Yes, of course that's normal. A life was ended and that's upsetting. But it doesn't sound like it was your fault.

Any normal person would react the same way, it shows heart, compassion, and good character to value the existence of all living creatures.

Today I had just set off to go to the shops it was rush hour home for most and it was my day off. Loads of traffic and a lovely day. Next minute in the middle of the road where there's big White diagonal lines where the road goes wider I saw a poor little squirrels face and arms trying to save itself it had been hit by a car I'd imagine but from the onset it looked saveable. I was mortified turned around to put it in my car to take to the vets. As I carefully picked it up I thought it was still alive, it was awful. I said hello to it, and just wanted to help it. But it was too late. I'd drove to safety and checked it again. It had gone. I was really upset and cried all the way home. I had to ring a friend and they said what to do. Put it in newspaper and into the bin. I felt terrible. It's not nice seeing any animals or humans in pain. Which I did that's why I went back. I think there are people out there who are not bothered about all gods creatures and it is very sad.

I think people who have no sorrow for killing a creature have no soul. Any animal who is killed by a car deserves to have tears shed for it.

I had a pet squirrel when I was a kid. It was a baby whose mother was hit by a car so we rescued the baby. We had that squirrel for a couple of years. One day I came home from school and my mom sat me down and told me Fuzzy had been ran over. I cried for days. But it made me realize how volatile life is. But, yes, even now I get very upset when I see a cat or dog on the side of the road. Especially when you can tell they were well cared for. It is even more heartbreaking when you drive by an hour later and the little body is gone because you know the family discovered their little pet passed away. It just pains me. Well, so maybe you are sensitive, but then so am I. Your boss sounds like mine. I think they need some heart, maybe something should happen in their life to open their eyes.

Totally normal. When I first got my drivers license a bird flew right into my windshield. One of it's wings broke off and the rest of his body got stuck on my wiper blades... It stared at me the whole drive to work. I also cried the whole way!

  • I hit and killed dozens of little sparrows with my new car. There was about a hundred or so of them on the road, all in one spot (I know: weird, right). I thought they would fly away when they saw me coming around the corner. I was going fast, so I had no time to react. They started to fly at the same time I was driving over them. There was blood, bones, and feathers all over my car. They were stuck in my radiator too. It made me cry and I found it difficult to get out of my mind for days.

yeah i accidentally hit a wallaby with my jeep a few years back and i have never been able to get over it. it was lucky though that it died straight away and i didnt have to put it down myself. sometimes you just cant help these things, you are on constant look out when you are driving but they just jump out from behind a bush and by the time you see them, its too late.

Oops. I voted that it was not nomad but I meant to say yes it is. I'm on my iPhone and my finger slipped. Just wanted to clear that up...there's a no vote that should be a yes.

And I'd have cried too. I once was on a road trip where I passed a horrific accident ...car flipped over person thrown and dying on the side of the road...and I thought it was sad and all....but it was the deer that had just been hit and was twitching and bleeding a few miles later thy made me cry.

I've killed a couple rabbits and a cat with my car, but it was the deer that really got to me. Two actually. One just kept me from driving down a certain road at night for a few months and I thought it was very funny that that the deers shit was stuck to the side of the car. I literally scared the shit out of it. But the other one fricken exploded all over my car. The windshield was covered in a thick pink sludge and my husband said I was white as a sheet for several hours after. I felt dirty and on edge for days and I didn't want to touch the car for weeks because all I could see in my head was blood and chunks of fur.
