You are having a wrenching & heart breaking experience and must have cared about this guy a lot.
I think you are smart not contacting him and keeping your regrets, hopes & yearnings for him to yourself. Similarly it is way to early to start dating. Either way you don't need more on your plate emotionally.
I agree with others - cry, rant, whatever - in time you'll be ready to let it go and move on. You do need to give yourself time. And treat yourself nicely.
