I think you have more to lose by not saying something. You're probably only thinking of the short-term consequences of telling him. But try thinking of the future, like 5, 10, even 20 years down the road, when you are looking back on how you feel today (because you will). Don't let inaction turn into a lifetime of regret. You will lose more in the long-run if you stay on the sidelines where it is safest.
