Try and make up realistic goals. By just swapping soda/milk for water you save a lot of unnecessary calories.
Take an hour walk every day and decide that junk food isn't okay unless it's Tuesday and Friday, then it's fine to have some if you really want to.
In the end it's all about spending more energy than what you eat and if you love to eat you just gotta move a lot more than you do.
The mistake that a lot of people do is that they decide to lose the weight and put up these REALLY harsh goals and standards that they can't possible live up to.
