Someone told me my accent sound "like cat in a wood chipper"
I am also short. But I don't think that is the problem because I am handsome.
If you can't get a date just because of your accent, then you are probably going after the wrong girls (i.e. super shallow). There are plenty of girls who don't care what your accent is, or how tall you are, or anything like that.
If you aren't getting dates, and you've tried in several different locations, and several different types of girls, then it's not your accent, it's got to be something else which is usually personality. A good way to test this is to have someone video record you in action, then show it to people who don't know you for their reactions, and comments. The best part of this technique is if they have a negative reaction, you have the ability to say, "It was staged. That guy was an actor and he was supposed to be (insert_adjective_here)." such as annoying, rude, cynical, etc...
You will find someone eventually, just give it time. Try online dating (no one can hear your voice over the Internet- she won't know what you sound like until you are already on a date).
