  • Your OP lacks a lot of details, such as when the snow was predicted to arrive and how that timing related to your scheduled times to arrive and leave work.

    If it was due to arrive while you were at work, it duly did, the snow was as heavy as predicted and you get any shit from your boss, then I think you'd be wise to look for alternative work. Some bosses honestly believe that their employees should be willing to risk their life and limb in the cause of keeping money flowing into their business. People like that don't give a fuck about you, so why should you give a fuck about them and the state of their bank balance?

    Megadriver outlines a situation where he fired a guy after he'd taken one too many sick days that were conveniently timed to give him long weekends. That seems reasonable to me, but I would hope that he wouldn't expect employees to always show up even if the streets are flooded or a metre-deep in snow, or a storm has blown down trees and powerlines all over the place.
