I am worried

I hope everybody is doing aright.
SO today I heard a bad news that one of friend of mine died from cancer. I am kind of worried about myself like If I have got any cancer symtom. I am a 33 year old male I have never checked myself to see if I have cancer or any other symtom diseases. how often should a male go to the doctors to check this? and what should I say?

You should have yearly checkups from a doctor. And if you think something is wrong with your body or your just paranoid about it. See a doctor. Don’t take any medical advice from people on here or the internet

A 33 year old male does not need to check for cancer every year just because a friend died from it.

Yeah but you should have yearly checkups with a doctor. I didn’t say for cancer. But if you think something is wrong with your body you should also see a doctor that’s my point. I never said he should have cancer checkups yearly. That would be stupid and unnecessary.

    Get a prostate exam when you're 55.

but I am 33 and I never went to the doctor for a body checkup to see if I have any disease that's what I am saying. right now I dont think there is something wrong with me but I have heard that if you have cancer is good to start treating it before it spread to my whole body. so that's why I am saying if I should go or not

No, unless you have physical symptoms or some other reason to suspect you have cancer, like an occupation where you were exposed to asbestos on a regular basis.

The death of someone you know from cancer has triggered off fears about your own mortality, which is 100% normal. If you're male and old enough for it to be an issue, have regular prostate checks; if you're female have regular pap smear tests and mammograms.

Other than that, don't smoke, don't drink alcohol to excess, eat healthily and get your exercise.

  • I think you are just paranoid but you should probably go to the doctor anyway.

I would say a yearly checkup should do the trick.

There really isn't much a doctor can do unless you have clear symptoms. Most symptoms of different types of cancer are relatively easy to spot, but can mimic other illnesses. In short if you notice anything out of the ordinary for you then talk to your doctor.

When you talk to your doctor just be truthful and tell them the problem, this goes for anytime you talk to a doctor not just if you're worried about cancer. Also next time you talk to your doctor don't be afraid to ask questions if cancer is something your are genuinely worried about then talk to your doctor and they should be able to tell you exactly what to look for and when you should start screenings for certain types of cancers.

You should have regular doctor visits, but you don't have to have them every year. It's typically recommended 1-3 years for someone your age, but that's just a suggestion. If it's been awhile since your last doctor visit it may be a good idea to have a physical done just to make sure your healthy

Since you don't have a family doctor I would recommend looking into doctor offices near you that are accepting new patients. While it's not entirely necessary to have a family doctor it does make it easier if something were to happen where you need to be checked.
