I feel your pain because the exact same thing happened to me but you actually got more out of it then I did. I havn't spoken to him in 2 months after 2 years of talking everyday and hanging out and stuff I finally told him and he just dissapeared. You will get through it. It is hard at first because you want someone you can't have but eventually with time it will replace that.
