Normal, I think. Lot of gals go for somewhat older guys, and the fact that it's someone your parents trust and respect should be a bonus.
Go for it!
If/when you disclose it, you should expect your family to be shown that the relationship is healthy, but hopefully in time he can prove to them them that he loves and respects you.
