I was teasing about the US practice of calling toilets bathrooms or restrooms when if it's a separate dunny there's no bath or bed in there.
I've written on here before about particles from the open toilet and asking what people think the lid is for, because very few people shut it before flushing.
I have never heard an American or anyone, in fact, call an actual toilet a bathroom. Do you not understand that people use the term bathroom or restroom to refer to the room (not the physical toilet) because of manners?
Then how come they say they're going to the bathroom when they're in a bar or some other place where there is no bathroom, only a toilet? And they're not going to have a rest, so why say restroom?
It's not about manners, it's about prissiness and affectation and it annoys the shit out of me, people who use expressions like this are stuck in childhood and I wish they'd grow up.
You call it a restroom because you're supposed to keep your business private. Saying toilet is how we know you're announcing that you are indeed going pee or poop, which would be rude. However, when we say restroom or bathroom, nothing is assumed and nothing should be assumed. It's quite nosy to want someone to tell you what your bathroom business is- toilet is direct and unnecessary for us.
This will almost certainly be my last comment on this rather trivial topic.
I still don't understand, if it's not a restroom or a bathroom but you call it that instead of toilet, you are in fact telling others that you're going to pee or poop! Surely everyone knows there's no bed or bathroom facilities in there and that you really mean the toilet?
Finally, why does anyone have to announce where they're going? If it's all so rude (never did understand that term) why don't you just say you'll be back shortly? Anything else is in fact an announcecement that you're going off to do something "rude" in private.
Anyway that's definitely enough on this topic from me - happy solstice!
I am confused with what posts are actually trolls IIN?

I think you both mean toilet, not bathroom? Surely not unusual to keep toothbrush in the latter

No, they know what a bathroom is. They're not retards. Who the fuck keeps their toothbrush in the damn toilet, ffs.
You flush the open toilet. Particles are propelled through the air.
It's not a science rocket.

Not rocket science, I agree

We mean bathroom. We won't nitpick at your culture if you don't nitpick at ours. K?
