North Dakota oil rigs pay a shit ton. Or UPS. Learn to drive a 18 wheeler. UPS will teach you. It pays 40 an hour there. Or you can drive for ND oil rigs and make up to 350 a year

I always thought that if things don't work out in my career that I'd like to drive big trucks. Seems like an honest way to make a decent living. I'd wear a trucker Cap and flannel shirt.
Totally incompatible with the millions of young children that I have, of course, but a girl can dream.

If I get very low on money and need money fast, I'd definitely opt for a driving job. But I would prefer driving a bus, cause those are faster (at least in Europe), ride just as comfortably and companies pay for your hotel. American and Aussie trucks are probably luxury RVs with trailers, but European trucks have small living accommodations. The Scania I drove on Saturdays was a sleeper cab, but I wouldn't be comfortable sleeping in it.
Traded that second job for another one driving buses on Saturdays and it's great fun. I love driving, I love the pretty scenery, I can play my own music and have a superbly comfortable air ride seat, so it's not so much a job, but a Saturday leisurely drive I get paid 600 bucks a month for XD

The Aussie roadtrains are absolutely huge and have living quarters in them. I'm from Europe and I've never seen anything the size of a roadtrain before I moved here. They are a bit scary actually - they are so big that occasionally someone gets hit by one and the driver doesn't even know. The system certainly has it's draw backs...

It pays so good. Its super easy too. I like UPS because I can do pickups around the city so 50% of the time I'm parked waiting and I'm playing on my phone. The great thing about being a truck driver too is if you get fired it's not a big deal. Theres soooo much work. Theres a huge shortage of drivers in the US. I'm lucky I got into this.

In Oz, for the long distance stuff it's a similar scenario to the us, but instead of a truck you're driving a roadtrain. But it's the same basic principle, you just get your roadtrain licence and then it opens up all sorts of delivery jobs. You're away from home a lot because you travel such great distances, but if I didn't have young kids I'd be ok with that. Would be cool to see all of this great country while I can, just in case they kick us out one day.

You keep pushing the idea of truck driving.
If it pays so great yet there is this shortage, there is a reason and not just "it isn't for everyone".
The details are not important but years ago I got into something where there was supposedly this big shortage. I got to the end of my schooling and was ready to start a career only to find out the market was flooded with applicants.
How many times have schools said thing to the effect of there not being enough applicants to fill the positions but then people study it in school only to learn the hard way that either the schools were bullshitting OR getting in was a lot harder, sometimes not even in their control?

I mean... how hard can it be? You are driving a truck. Its not like its hard labor or anything. You just hold a steering wheel. People go on about how terrible minimum wage is but then its all excuses why they cant do something else. I'm giving the OP a way to make 1,000 a week but then they just make excuses why thety cant. Its always an excuse why they cant make more money.
im giving advice on how they can do something. Youre only giving advice on why they cant. You have to be a problem solver in this world if you want to make something of yourself.

I'm in nd right now, like a couple of other iin members I've noticed, and I make a minimum $450 per day and that's if things are running slow. I typically make 3800 per week before taxes.
It's a far cry from my days only a couple of years ago living paycheck to paycheck and always worried about money. I've no regrets.
Some companies here even hire drivers straight out of school, which makes it so much more dangerous, but it's there for the guys looking to jump right in.

Go work for UPS. They make fairly good money, or go big and gun for a commercial license. Truckers are wanted all over the world.
Everyone's also pushing for trucker rights, managed hours and higher pay, so it's not a low paying, slave job anymore.
If you're ok being out on the road for a long time, you can quickly save up money.I used to drive a Scania box truck on Saturdays as a weekend job and they paid me 600 bucks a month. Not bad for 8 hours of driving (1 is rest and another hour is waiting to be loaded/ unloaded). My truck was superbly comfortable, automatic and those 8 hours just flew by in a haze of good music and air seat comforty goodness.
Traded in the truck job for a bus job. They pay just as good, but buses are faster... In Europe trucks are limited to 40mph on country roads and 50mph on highways, any faster and you risk a really fat fine...
Buses however can go up to 55 and 65mph legally.
Passengers are fun too. I listen mostly to 80s music in my bus, so regulars call it the 80s express.
Plus buses have a dot matrix display I can use to type amusing words after work on the way back to depot...
I call my bus "the 80s comet". Did write "SEX" on the back of the bus as a line number, but I got a warning from the boss for that XDComment Hidden ( show ) -

Clean houses, mow lawns, gardening, paper rout, Brickies laborer, seasonal work, picking, super market packing, bla bla. All these type of jobs require not certificates and anyone can do them, no matter your education. Also you are almost guaranteed.
