I always refuse to open my windows when it is hot out

One time when I was young, my mother made a stupid decision of telling me to keep the window open while it was hot out, and that night, I got 9 mosquito bites on 1 arm. I told her that it is all her fault this happened, and she just acted annoyed. Ever since I would never open my windows when the heat is high.

Is it normal to not open your windows during this?

Put a bug screen or curtain over the window?

    • Curtains never work, as the bugs are small. But maybe a screen can.

You're not supposed to do that anyway actually because you let the hot air from outside into the house. Better to use fans if you don't have air condition. So it's pretty normal. I tend to still have my window open very little at night in the summer though

I always keep my windows & drapes closed during the day when it's hot and then open it all up at night when it's cooler. I don't have airconditioning so I use fans as well.

Mosquitoes will get you anyway, use repellent and let in the fresh air. It's unhealthy to keep breathing the same air over and over.

Soooo, your mother didn't have screens in her windows when you were young. Now you don't have screens in yours because...?

    • With, it feels like less fresh air is coming in, and that is not good.

I normally always have my windows open. But I also have screens on them.

Sleep on a low bed, turn a portable fan on and wear lightweight breathable clothes to bed.

The house can keep the cool night air in at least until the afternoon.
