It's apparent, from your post, that you're looking for something serious, if I got it right, so don't rush it.
I could be wrong, but it's better to be cautious than regret welcoming a bad relationship, or an empty one. Ofc, you needn't worry, there are plenty of good guys out there.
About your shyness, try and act the way you want to be. Fake it till you make it, as they say. Act confident and that's what people gonna get from you. From my own experience, it's obviously gonna get awkward sometimes, but you can always readjust, if that makes sense. In time you'll start feeling like it's a second nature.
I agree! I actually met my husband online 5 years ago. He actually messaged me first, we talked for a week not only about things we did throughout the day but what we were looking for in a partner...then we met and haven't looked back since. Best of luck to you and don't feel like you need to settle...if it says they're looking for fwb or whatever, move on!
